Description: This position operates heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of city roads and streets.

Traits required to succeed in this role: self-starter, work independently with minimum supervision, problem solver, and also to work as a member of a team. Both written and verbal communication is necessary to complete daily tasks; communication with co-workers, supervisors, and the public is a must. The job duties include, but are not limited to, operation of heavy equipment and trucks, manual labor in areas of roadside maintenance, sweeping streets, snow removal, assisting in waste collection during special events, patching streets, etc.

Hours and Days may vary depending upon the season, weather events, and emergencies.

6:00 am-4:30 pm Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm Monday through Friday, or 8:00 am- 4:30 pm.

Monday through Friday, 12 hour shifts during weather events.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class B drivers license with air brakes and tanker endorsement issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated, obtained within six months of employment.
